Our Mission
Alliance Berean Church exists to glorify God by introducing people to Jesus Christ, lovingly nurturing them to maturity, and equipping them for their ministry and life mission.
Alliance Berean Church exists to glorify God by introducing people to Jesus Christ, lovingly nurturing them to maturity, and equipping them for their ministry and life mission.
Berea was a city in the first century where the Apostle Paul planted a church. The distinctive of the Bereans was that they “received the Word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11). The name Berean simply reflects our passion to diligently examine the Scriptures to discover what is true.
In 1961, two families in Alliance contacted the Berean pastors from Scottsbluff and Mitchell, Nebraska, about planting a church in Alliance. After much prayer and evaluation, these pastors began driving to Alliance to hold Bible studies in various homes. The first pastor was called and the first service was held on Sunday, June 1, 1962. Six families met for a while in the Women’s Club building until the group purchased a vacant Baptist building in 1964. A new facility was built on the present site at the corner of Emerson and 18th in 1974. Five pastors have served Alliance Berean in the course of its history. There has also been a consistent outreach ministry to children with VBS, AWANA, and Club 3:16 over the years. From its inception, the goal of Alliance Berean has been to be a missionary-minded, Bible-preaching church.
We are an independent local church body affiliated with the Berean Fellowship of Churches (BFC). The Fellowship is a group of like-minded churches committed to a vision of “Planting Churches, Making Disciples, and Reaching the World.” The Berean Church Fellowship was built upon a solid biblical foundation and has always emphasized the authority of Scripture, the supremacy of Jesus Christ, and the importance of advancing the gospel through personal relationships, church planting, and world missions.
THAT Church that intentionally and unapologetically promotes the agenda of Jesus Christ by presenting Him and His Word clearly and often.
THAT Church where worship is not merely a gathering, but a lifestyle.
THAT Church where community is real; Where people can come to a safe place that shares the love, grace, hope and belonging that has been first shared by Jesus Christ.
THAT Church where corporate gatherings are full of life.
THAT Church that by its presence and involvement makes our communities and the panhandle of Nebraska a better place for people to live.
THAT Church that is global in its outreach, impacting all the continents of the world by sending and supporting workers and ministries.
THAT Church where lives are constantly being changed by the gospel of Christ and His call to "come after me."
THAT Church that embraces our responsibility to use our resources to build and encourage the body of Christ at large of which we are a part.
THAT Church by its recognizeable presence gives notice to our part of Nebraska that God is alive and well!
THAT Church that doesn't curse the darkness but seeks to penetrate it with the light of Christ.
14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
